The wonderful Fairy Kissed Daisy has been kind enough to nominate me for The Sunshine Blogger award and I am here to spread some of that sunshine and nominate my own personal blogging sunbeams, so here we go!

So without further to-do here are the questions I was asked and my answers.

What pushed you to start your blog?

I actually tried to start a blog a few years ago – affectionately called Queer on a Quest – but wasn’t really in the right mental space to be doing so at the time, and didn’t really know what I wanted my blog to be, so it didn’t pan out. Now, a few years later, I have friends who write their own blogs and I love reading them. I read a lot, I talk a lot and I have lots of opinions so why not voice them online? I’m so glad I came back to the idea of blogging, and I am thoroughly enjoying it!

Favourite animal and why?

Our dog, Vegas. He came into our lives at a time where we needed him and he needed us, and we love him so so much. I do not have a maternal bone in my body for actual human children but when it comes to our handsome boy no cuddle, bath, brush down, walk or tummy rub is too much. He has dog friendly ‘chocolate’ (carob) treats, no joke. Here he is being wonderful:

What’s your advice for new blogs – 1 do and 1 don’t

Do – Think carefully about how you want to present yourself and your views online, and be aware that people may not agree with those views. It sounds very serious but once I got down the tone of how I wanted to write and my target audiences, the rest kind of came a bit easier!

Don’t – Do what everybody else is doing just because they are doing it, your blog is for and about you! Sure it can be fantastic reading a hyped up book that is popular at the time, but don’t feel that you need to be 100% current 100% of the time, do some things for you.

What top 3 things would you tell your teenage self?

1. Yes you’re gay, and that’s fantastic and one day you will be happy and in love don’t you worry.

2. Speak to someone when you’re feeling low, if you keep all that stress and worry locked up inside it will fester into something much, much worse.

3. Business studies was a bullshit GCSE and you know it, take something useful like IT or a language because your future self is rubbish with computers and wants to be a more language-savvy tourist.

What’s your Favourite TV show

Lie To Me, it’s the first show I really got into as a teen and I still have a soft spot for it today. I remember buying the box sets, one of them arrived the day of my final exams as a treat!

Which TV show can’t you stand

Love Island, we watched an episode last year to see what the fuss was about and I hated it!

What’s the best chocolate bar?

I love Lindt dark chocolate, especially the blueberry one! I used to get headaches a lot and at one point was iron deficient (yay) and when I was told there was a type of CHOCOLATE that could help both I immediately began to eat it. I can confirm it helps with headaches, but not with tummy aches if you eat the whole bar in one sitting.

Dinner or Tea – what do you call your evening meal (there is only one correct answer lol)?

We call it dinner in our house, but my mum sometimes says ‘time for tea’ so I’ll answer to both!

How do you practice self care?

I wrote a post on this recently (check it out!) but one of the ways I practice self care is making sure I get outside at least once a day and include vegetables in my meals. I love to eat so I may as well eat stuff that is good for me! I also try to avoid being too hard on myself and show myself the patience I would show others.

And that’s me done! Here are my questions for my wonderful nominees:

1. If you had to suggest a book to me today, which book would it be and why?

2. What is you favourite kind of blog post to read and to write?

3. Do you prefer biscuits or cake?

4. What is one book you’ve read at least twice?

5. What do you do to cheer yourself up when you are sad?

6. Do you have a favourite movie?

7. Tea, coffee or hot chocolate?

8. What is a fun fact about you?

9. Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging?

10. What is your favourite mythical creature?

11. How do you stay motivated with your blog?

I nominate the wonderful:

A Bibliophile’s Day Off (@readerofthings)

Uptown Oracle (@Uptown_Oracle)

Ruth In Revolt (@ruthinrevolt)

Lost In A Story (@lost_in_a_story)

Strange Queer Things (@felicitousfelix)

My Passion Projects (@blog_mpp)

A Beautiful Chaos (@beau1fulchaos_)

The Sassologist (@IngievV)

    • Thank you so much, that’s so kind of you to say 🙂 Mental health is something I think more school-age children and teens need to be aware of and being open about it is the first stage to an understanding world! Also Vegas is the most handsome boy, and I am glad people are showing him the appreciation he deserves! Thank you again for the nomination! 😀

  2. Congrats on your nomination! Very well deserved 🙂. It’s great to hear that you decided to get back to blogging after time away – and the advice you’ve given to new bloggers is very good, too.

Like you, I regret doing Business Studies at GCSE – I spent the whole time wishing I had chosen geography instead 😅!
